A Weekend Getaway at the Fox House Treehouse in Nashville, TN | Lifestyle and Travel | Tennessee Wedding Photographer

Anyone else fascinated by treehouses?! I think they are just so cool and I’ve been dying to stay in one. Someday I would love to go out to Washington State and stay in one of the really big treehouses they have built out there! I’ve seen there are some pretty spectacular ones in Washington and South Carolina!

Over the summer, I stumbled upon this really cute, quaint tiny treehouse in Nashville, TN! I had no clue there was one so close that I just had to see about staying there! Luckily, it worked out and wow, ya’ll it was perfect! This sweet little abode is tucked away in a serene backyard, lights strung from the trees and house and a hammock hanging just over yonder.

When I stepped inside the sweet little oasis, it was like walking into a real life Anthropolgie catalog. It was absolutely darling. Scroll through the pictures to see what I am talking about! I think my favorite part of staying in the Fox House was laying still on the bed, staring outside the big window and just listening. Listening to the birds chirp, the frogs ribbit, the leaves wrestle in the trees and watching little yellow lights flicker in the dark from the hundreds of lightning bugs.

My favorite moment was falling asleep listening to an owl “hoo-ing” and reading steadily hitting the roof. It was so peaceful. The windows were cracked, the balcony door open and the light of the moon shining through. There was no TV or WiFi and limited cell service, forcing me to simply enjoy the world around me. I woke up the next morning to it still raining and outside the big treehouse window, I watched a gorgeous wild red fox tiptoeing across the way.

Needless to say, this darling place was just what my soul needed this Summer! Also, now I definitely need to get out to Washington and continue this treehouse adventure! Anyone else want to stay in a treehouse? Where would you want to go? Let me know in the comments!❤️

xoxo, MK

Summer Evening Engagement at Tuscan Ridge | Shannon and Matthew | Tennessee Wedding Photographer

How adorable are these three?! I was so excited when Shannon and Matthew asked me about bringing their precious fur-baby, Sebago (her name is inspired after a beautiful lake in Maine). I love when my couples bring their fur-babies along to sessions. Shannon and Matthew both grew up in Maine! Visiting Maine is on my travel list for sure!

Shannon and Matthew are goofy, down to earth and so much fun with each other! They are adorably playful and constantly make each other laugh. Their laughter is contagious. They had me laughing throughout the entire session — we all just had lots of fun! Sebago is too cute! She was such a good girl and they all braved the sticky southern heat like champs.

The theme for their wedding day is inspired from the Broadway show, Wicked! Guys, seriously, how awesome is that?! Shannon came to me with the idea to use a green smoke grenade as a way to incorporate the Wicked theme into their session and I was like “Heck YES! I am all here for it!” Ya’ll it turned out SO cool! I’m so down for more smoke grenades sessions. I am even more excited to see how Shannon and Matthew add Wicked to their wedding day details! I know Shannon, who is a school teacher, will do it with such class and excellent taste. :)

A Romantic Lunch at La Mercerie Cafe | Lifestyle and Travel | New York City Photographer

New York City is so captivating and magical. I travel to the city often for work and always take the opportunity to try new places (which really isn’t hard to do) when I’m there. While being in the city this past May, I had the privilege to visit one of my couples who lives in Astoria, New York! Staying with them gave me an entirely different experience of the city! Just when I thought I was in love with New York City, that trip confirmed it even more. Experiencing more of a day-to-day lifestyle and exploring several of the gems in the adorable, slower suburb was truly incredible. I’ll save that for another post!

While working in Manhattan with a client, we grabbed an impeccable lunch at the stunning La Mercerie Cafe. Walking in the doors and through the heavy dark lavender drapes and setting eyes on the dining setup made my heart burst! I felt like I walked into cafe in Paris. It was marvelous. A corner of the cafe was filled with gorgeous blooms and greenery. The restaurant has an open kitchen, allowing you to watch the cooks prepare your dishes. The back of the restaurant is a shop filled with stunning crafted furniture, linens and home decors. It is such an experience. If you ever find yourself in New York, I highly recommend reserving time in your trip to dine at La Mercerie.
